The short version
OrionPDF edits PDFs entirely inside your browser. Your documents are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server — OrionPDF has no backend that ever sees the contents of a file you open. That design choice, not a policy promise, is what keeps your documents private.
What we don't collect
- The contents of any PDF you open, edit, or export
- File names, page counts, or metadata from your documents
- Analytics or tracking scripts on the editor or landing page
What is collected, and why
If you choose to sign in or make a purchase, a small amount of account data is processed to run the service:
- Sign-in (optional). If you sign in via Google, GitHub, Facebook, or phone number on the Account page, Firebase Authentication processes your chosen provider's identity (e.g. name, email, avatar) to create your session. OrionPDF never sees your provider password.
- Purchases. Payments are processed entirely by Stripe. OrionPDF never receives or stores your card details. Stripe shares the email address used at checkout so Premium can be linked to your account.
-
Entitlement status. To remember that you've paid,
OrionPDF stores a minimal record — your email address and a
premium: true/falseflag — in a key-value store. No other profile data is kept. - Trial-abuse prevention. To keep the free trial to one document per device/network as intended, a hashed version of your IP address (never the raw address) is briefly recorded to enforce that limit. It is not linked to your identity, browsing activity, or any document you open.
-
Local storage. Your browser's own storage
(
localStorage) keeps your license key, trial count, and sign-in state on your device. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Third parties
OrionPDF relies on a small number of infrastructure providers to run sign-in and payments:
- Google Firebase — authentication
- Stripe — payment processing
- Cloudflare — the entitlement/anti-abuse API
- Google Fonts — typefaces used on this site
Each operates under its own privacy policy; none receive your document contents, because OrionPDF never sends them anywhere.
Data retention
Entitlement records persist as long as your account remains eligible for Premium. Trial-abuse counters expire automatically after 180 days. You can request deletion of your account data at any time by contacting support.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any account data OrionPDF holds about you by emailing the address below. Since documents are never transmitted to us, there is nothing to request regarding file contents — they simply were never sent.
